Button Button...Who's Got The Button

                                                                   We all do!

Cindy Wimmer of Sweet Bead Studio put out the challenge for a good old fashion button swap.  Cindy paired us  up and buttons flew through the mail to eager hands waiting to create .   Alice of Alice Dreaming was my partner and you see the lovely stash she sent for me to play with.  My love of buttons started early when my Grandmother gave me a plastic box full of buttons for Christmas.  Oh how I wish I had those lovelies now...we played with them for hours......

I  started with lots of dangles and then kept the necklace simple finishing off with black leather

A simple fun piece to wear.....

Ceramic button from Landon Road Designs

Next I played with the rhinestone and pearl buttons.

I used an old strand of pearls and a rhinestone focal salvaged from the broken pile bowl
to complete  this piece.  I can say I am not a "stringer"

Living near the Mississippi river I have always loved pearl buttons. Muscatine Iowa was known as the "button capitol of the world".   Apparently because of a bend in the river many clams accumulated in the river. For a period of 75 years the button industry fueled the towns economy.

I am still in the thinking process with this beautiful lampwork button Alice sent me

The helpers as usual showed up for the photography session.......

Bob really wasn't too impressed......
Foo thought it was just her thing and took it while my back was turned!

                                                               Thank you Cindy Wimmer!!!
There are a lot of ladies playing button button.....have fun on your hop!

Color me Yellow

It's time for all of us to show off our colors.
The lovely talented Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime challenged us to play with our crayon colors.   I picked yellow.......

I love yellow ......so.....I looked up yellow.....

Yellow is sunshine. It is a warm color that, like red, has conflicting symbolism. On the one hand it denotes happiness and joy but on the other hand yellow is the color of cowardice and deceit.......
Hmmmm lets not think about that last bit and move on to happiness.

Yellow is the color I wore for my all time favorite grade school picture, it is the color I picked for the dress I wore to my first big event date.......it's the first bright color in my yard after a long winter, the bright center of my Shasta daisy's....yep I love yellow!!

                                                         My "inspiration" color swatch

First  you  ever so sweetly interrupt your TV watching husband with a request for him to try his way with forming a Calla Lily from your scrap spoon bowls .......(then you go hammer out one yourself )  I ended up using my petal.... but wait till you see what I did with the ones he made me!!

I purchased the large yellow stones last year on a flea market/gotta find the local bead store trip.
Thank you Sally for making  giving me the opportunity to finally create with the beautiful stones.

\
I made "5 minute" earrings as I walked out the door to the flea market today....
don't  you just love having the means to throw together the perfect pair of earrings to match your outfit!  I decided I didn't like the color of the chain I had used so when I got home from the flea market today I tore it apart and started again.....

I had fun getting out the liver of sulpher of seeing what beautiful tones the wire takes on

Ok now go do some color hopping!!
