I made these Junk-le-Bells style....using odds and ends of stuff....
old tacks, springs, rusty wire and tops of Christmas balls...

quality control taking a break....

Social Security..WHAT NOT TO DO

I have been a bad "wife". I changed my name on my drivers license, my payroll, my beneficiary...you get the drift. I had never gone to the Social Security Office and changed my SS Card. Mr. Tax Man frowned on this last year so 2 hrs before this years appointment off I go. I leave work early so I get there in plenty of time before closing. I am prepared. I have done my homework. I know the location--2nd floor post office(downtown parking if you are lucky). I have all the suggested documents. Ok. drive downtown see an open parking meter a block from destination--take it and walk--rain won't melt me. Into the Post Office--hmm how do I get to 2nd floor go completely through to other side--Passport Office--na not leaving American soil anytime soon. Turn around back to where I came in. Go through other doors and finally see a man come out of the stairwell--can't see the elevator(good exercise). Finally on 2nd floor and having trouble reading the very small sign(need cheaters). Turn the corner and there sits a very nice young Officer. Ma'am do you have any sharp objects in your purse? Me ahhh...oh I have a couple of box cutter knives that I just bought for work(as he is starting to dig through my very small purse-- should be a red and blue one.... he pulls out my diamond emery board, oh....he pulls out a pair of really sharp little scissors(dull ones from work that get tossed) and finally the dreaded box knives.......

Ma'mm you can't have these in a federal building I am going to have to ask you to leave....I just want to leave the purse with him but, turn around. Back down the steps, down the street(raining) put said purse with contraband in car....start all over again...Back to 2nd floor turn the corner look at him grinning... me-- "I don't usually carry the dam thing just brought it in for document back up"... Officer--Ma'am just go on in.

Takes 5 min. clerk only wants marriage certificate(none of the other 10 back ups I brought with me). Ma'am you will be official in the morning. Out the door with 15 Min. to spare.

Note to self..CLEAN OUT PURSE --look for sharp objects, old Christmas ornament, loose ob tampons, used Kleenex, parking lot flattend beer bottle caps(used for crafting the hard part is done for me!)..... before letting good looking Officer rummage through purse!

frazzled angel

I started with a bag of these found in a junk shop in MS. They intrigued me and just called out angel. (I have candy and tart molds--these are completely different so if you know what they are please share!) UPDATE--WE HAVE FIGURED THESE OUT AND THEY ARE TIN CAN LIDS BENT INTO THIS SHAPE!!! I AM CURRENTLY TRYING TO DUPLICATE THEM AND LET ME TELL YOU IT IS NOT EASY BUT I AM GETTING THERE.....

A wood ball for the head with a hole drilled through the top.

TIP! I use floss threaders to pull my hangers through the wood ball...it's my 30 years of dental background coming through(and a fixed retainer)!!

I used an awl to poke a hole through the top. Attach the head to the bowl with a screw.

"modern art"

Painted face details and an old zipper pieced out for her wings and collar.

Sisal for her hair, a zipper halo

We flit, we fly, we run on high.
Oh never fear our angel’s near.
We razzle, we dazzle
Oh my gosh she’s frazzled!

We have a peeping TOM

We were relaxing on the couch about 9:00 the other night when all of a sudden the front screens started to rumble and sound like something was hitting them...I commented that the wind must have picked up. I got up opened the front door to check outside--all seemed quiet nothing on the porch...hmmmmm. About 5 minutes later it started again but really seemed to be coming from the second story dormer window. I am sitting there looking up and all of a sudden I see eyes! Ahh! there is somebody looking at us from the roof!! Hubby did a quick cat count and said well everyone is here...

honey, count again...

meet my Peeping Tom....Nosey

Nosey has decided that night time maneuvers should include our roof.....

We hope he doesn't get a bad reputation in the neighborhood.....

Drink Up.....

If you visited my basement a few years ago you might have thought I was a lush....cases and cases of wine bottles!! Thanks to the local Catholic Church they were all empty...it was my job to recycle! A few lucky souls received new bottles that were given as gifts to drink and enjoy after the bubbly was gone...A 2 for 1 gift! Many thanks to Deb Richey whose pattern started it all.......

More syrup please...

I was visiting some of my old craft show pictures tonight and came across this recycled Cracker Barrel syrup bottle. Oh the fun we had running around the restaurant grabbing the bottles the patrons had left behind. Sometimes we asked the servers....sometimes we were quite the little sneaks....of course everyone at our table had to have pancakes and ask for more syrup......

Zipper OOPS!

Recycling can come at any age....with lessons learned of course.
1. don't relieve Dad's favorite shorts of their zipper
2. get rid of the evidence
3. warn potential boyfriends of your peculiar father
Yep, my dear sister relieved our Dad of his zipper before he was through with his favorite shorts. To punish her he put the shorts on with white buck shoes, dark socks and t-shirt. He then proceeded to meet her date for the evening at the door with this get up on. As I sat and tore a zipper out of some shorts today I had a good chuckle. We learned after that to get rid of all suspect clothing we didn't want to get embarrassed by! Now I'm off to do some crafting with zippers.....
